  • WILZIG RACING MANOR In July 2006, the Taghkanic zoning enforcement officer (ZEO) issued an Order to Remedy to a developer who had begun construction of a racetrack on his residential property off Post Hill Road.

For a detailed look at the project, including aerial photographs and where it stands in the review process, click here.
NOTE: Racetracks are simply not permitted by the Town's existing zoning laws. No new rules or added regulations are necessary to turn this project down.

Allowing this project would set a precedent for the entire town. It could happen across the street from you.

The same common sense rules that apply to each of us when we go before a Town agency should apply to everyone equally.

  • SKODA FIRE FUND A fire recently destroyed the Skoda family's dairy barn, with over 90 cows inside. Residents throughout Taghkanic and Columbia County are supporting the family's plans to rebuild and continue their tradition of farming. To make a contribution to this fund, send donations to:

  • ZIP CODE REVIEW Residents are circulating a petition requesting that the Taghkanic Town Board seek a "ZIP code review" from the U.S. Postal Service. At the moment, residents of Taghkanic receive mail at no less than seven different ZIP codes, which can cause confusion for those sending or delivering packages and other mail. The review would not involve creating a new post office, but rather creating a ZIP specific to Taghkanic. For more information, contact Scott Fuchs at (518) 851-2345.
